What is the difference between CNC Cutting and Laser Cutting?

The main difference between CNC cutting and laser cutting is that CNC cutting provides more precise and clean cuts for medium to high thickness materials such as thick metals and heavy wood, in contrast, laser cutting is better for cutting thin to medium thickness materials.

This is due to a major difference in how each method cuts the materials. CNC involves direct contact with the material using rotating cutting tools, whilst laser cutting uses a non-contact method for achieving high-detail cuts with its laser.

By making physical contact the CNC cutting method is more effective for substantial material removal like creating 3D shapes and undertaking heavy-duty cutting tasks. Hence why it is the favoured method for cutting medium to high thickness materials.

On the other hand, laser cutting offers cleaner edges and finishes, and is often more cost-effective for smaller, detailed designs on thin to medium thickness materials.

CNC Cutting & Engraving Process

After you place your order, we will work to promptly acquire the necessary materials while finalising the AutoCAD design drawings. Following this, a prototype will be crafted to ensure quality standards are met, before fulfilling your entire order.

Pick-Up or Request Delivery

After the CNC cutting and engraving processes, each piece undergoes a thorough final inspection to ensure it matches your specified requirements. Finally, we notify you that your order is ready for collection or arrange its delivery to you.
