What Materials Can Be Cut With A CNC Machine?

CNC cutting is highly versatile and capable of precision cutting of a wide range of materials. These include metals like aluminium and stainless steel, and other materials like wood, plastics, acrylics, and foams.

The flexibility of use with different materials and also the ability to create precise cuts with materials of medium to high thickness makes CNC cutting a preferred choice for diverse industrial and creative applications.

How Precise Are CNC Cuts Compared To Other Methods?

For large materials or materials of medium to high thickness, CNC cutting is the preferred method of cutting due to its exceptional level of precision. Utilising advanced CAD technology, it can achieve intricate cuts and create detailed designs with remarkable accuracy, surpassing many traditional cutting methods.

Can CNC Cutting Be Used For Complex Designs?

CNC cutting is known for its capability to create incredible detail and designs on metals, plastics, wood, and more. Using CAD software, the computer-operated bit easily replicated exact designs to the programmed specifications.

This ensures consistency and accuracy in every cut, important in industries where materials need to meet regulations.

CNC Engraving Services

Looking for deeper more detailed engraving services? CNC Rotary Engraving is the highest-quality solution for large-scale, intricate projects to engrave precise and permanent designs. Using CNC engraving allows you to achieve unmatched depths in comparison to laser engraving techniques.

This makes it the best option when engraving on a variety of materials, especially metals like brass, copper, aluminium, and stainless steel. Unlike laser engraving, our CNC method doesn’t burn materials, offering an optimal solution for engraving natural materials and plastics with finesse and precision.

Our process ensures clean, precise engravings, perfect for both functional industrial applications and also visual aesthetics that stand out.

Is CNC Engraving Suitable For All Types Of Materials?

CNC engraving is suitable for a broad range of materials, including metals, plastics, wood, and acrylics. However, the suitability of CNC engraving for your project may vary based on the material properties and its thickness.

Can You CNC Engrave On Curved Or Uneven Surfaces?

Yes, CNC engraving is versatile enough to handle curved or uneven surfaces. As all engraving is controlled by the CAD software, the engraving machinery automatically adjusts itself to the contours of the material, providing consistent quality engraving.

Why Choose CNC Engraving Over Laser Engraving?

CNC engraving is often a better choice than laser engraving for projects that require depth and precision in engraving, especially on hard materials like metals. As it physically engraves the material, rather than using a laser, CNC engraving doesn’t burn materials. Resulting in a clean, precise finish and is better suited for applications where material depth and tactile quality are important.

What is the difference between CNC Cutting and Laser Cutting?

The main difference between CNC cutting and laser cutting is that CNC cutting provides more precise and clean cuts for medium to high thickness materials such as thick metals and heavy wood, in contrast, laser cutting is better for cutting thin to medium thickness materials.

This is due to a major difference in how each method cuts the materials. CNC involves direct contact with the material using rotating cutting tools, whilst laser cutting uses a non-contact method for achieving high-detail cuts with its laser.

By making physical contact the CNC cutting method is more effective for substantial material removal like creating 3D shapes and undertaking heavy-duty cutting tasks. Hence why it is the favoured method for cutting medium to high thickness materials.

On the other hand, laser cutting offers cleaner edges and finishes, and is often more cost-effective for smaller, detailed designs on thin to medium thickness materials.
